Learning Theories

This is a fantastic site for instructional designers interested in the various learning theories and how they can contribute to their ability to create affective training material. The first posting read "Cognitive Theory of Multimedia" taught me that the brain does not interpret a multimedia presentation of words, pictures, and auditory information in a mutually exclusive fashion. These elements are selected and organized to produce locgical mental constructs. Therefore multimedia trianing should not entail a great deal of information because the brain to effectively filter, select, organize, and integrate information based upon prior knowledge.
